The dry season, from June to September, is considered the Best Time to Visit Akagera National Park. The wet season, from October to May, offers lush green landscapes and excellent birdwatching opportunities but may present challenges for wildlife viewing due to thick vegetation.

Akagera National Park is located in the eastern part of Rwanda, approximately a 2.5-hour drive from Kigali, the capital city. Visitors can access the park by road from Kigali via a well-maintained highway. Alternatively, domestic flights are available from Kigali to the nearby Akagera Aviation airstrip, followed by a short drive to the park entrance.
